From marketing to machines with memory
Nir’s entry into AI was not driven by trend chasing, but by inevitability. He saw early that AI would fundamentally change how people interact with technology, not just at work, but in everyday life. From a business perspective, he also saw an opening. AI companion and agent platforms were moving from fringe experimentation into commercially viable territory. Q: You have more than two decades in business development and marketing. What pulled you into the AI world, and what convinced you this was the right place to focus your energy?
A: “The AI revolution isn’t just exciting, it’s inevitable. I realized that AI would fundamentally reshape how people interact with technology, both at work and in daily life. What drew me in was the level of execution, teams building things that actually worked, and the opportunity to create platforms that were commercially viable and useful for real users.”
For Nir, inevitability did not mean recklessness. It meant choosing where long term value could realistically be built.
Value over novelty, and the reality of building AI products
Across all his work, Nir comes back to a simple philosophy: if it doesn’t deliver value, it doesn’t matter. AI may be exciting, but novelty fades quickly. Systems that survive are the ones that improve workflows, feel natural to interact with, and produce consistent outcomes.
Flashy demos attract attention, but only meaningful experiences earn trust. Chasing FOMO, in Nir’s view, is one of the fastest ways to build something users try once and abandon.
This belief also shapes how he looks at the AI companion market. What was once a playground for hobbyists is now a space where users expect quality, memory, and reliability.
Q: Many founders underestimate what it takes to launch an AI companion product. What’s the biggest misconception you see?
A: “Plug and play doesn’t exist here. Companions need personality, memory, safety, and ongoing moderation. The distance between an OK solution and a really good one is huge, and it requires real resources and a capable tech team.”
The market signals are already there. Users are willing to pay, but only for experiences that feel intelligent, consistent, and personal.
The modern CRO role in AI companies
In AI native companies, leadership roles are evolving. For Nir, the CRO role today is a hybrid. It combines traditional growth leadership with product evangelism, customer education, and risk management. Expectations are higher, timelines are shorter, and mistakes carry greater consequences.
Q: As CRO at an AI company, how do you see your role today compared to similar leadership roles in traditional tech?
A: “AI speeds up everything. Expectations, timelines, and stakes. My role combines traditional growth leadership with product evangelism, customer education, and risk management. You have to be a strategist, an operator, and a translator all at once.”
AI accelerates everything, including pressure. Sometimes the most important part of the role is slowing teams down and refocusing them on real business needs instead of hype cycles. Strategy, operations, and translation between technical and commercial worlds are no longer separate responsibilities. They collapse into a single function.
Operational gravity and why context is the real advantage
As AI platforms scale, operational friction becomes the real challenge. Users notice latency, inconsistency, and unexpected behavior immediately. Maintaining trust at scale requires human oversight, robust infrastructure, and constant iteration.
Memory systems, context reliability, support workflows, and edge case handling all require far more effort than most founders anticipate. These invisible layers often determine whether an AI product earns long term loyalty or quietly erodes confidence.
This is where Nir believes many teams misunderstand the true technical advantage in AI.
Q: What separates serious agentic systems from generic LLM based tools?
A: “Structured memory, long term context tracking, and domain grounding. Generic LLMs are powerful, but they require extensive engineering to become reliable when accuracy, continuity, and planning matter.”
By embedding context directly into the system, teams reduce complexity and gain predictability. This allows them to focus on user value instead of endlessly rebuilding infrastructure.
Autonomy, boundaries, and durable AI relationships
Autonomy is powerful, but dangerous when unchecked. Nir’s experience shows that incremental, structured memory often outperforms ambitions of perfect recall. Clear decision boundaries and continuous monitoring prevent unpredictable behavior and build safer systems.
Q: When designing agent based systems, how do you think about autonomy and control?
A: “Autonomy is powerful, but it must be bounded. Unchecked freedom leads to unpredictable behavior. In practice, structured, incremental memory and clear boundaries beat perfect recall ambitions.”

Introducing agentic systems into legacy organizations reveals a familiar barrier: mindset. Control and predictability often outweigh curiosity. What changes minds is not demos, but results. Low risk pilots that deliver measurable improvements in speed, accuracy, or cost create trust.
Q: What usually shifts organizations from experimentation to real adoption?
A: “Trust and demonstrated reliability. Leaders adopt AI when they see measurable impact in real workflows, not flashy demos.”
As AI takes over tasks once handled by humans, trust becomes non negotiable. Users delegate only when systems are consistent, explainable, and transparent. Gradual adoption and clear communication matter more than aggressive automation.
When it comes to ROI, Nir argues that companies need to think in layers.
Q: How should companies evaluate ROI when adopting agentic AI?
A: “Start with concrete metrics like cost, speed, and accuracy, then layer in experience, satisfaction, and long term capability gains. True ROI is strategic, not just financial.”
